This watch is a very thouroughly build watch, but it's often said that a chain is as strong as the weekest link. This is certainly the case here. The wrist-strap of the watch has rubber mounted on the inside, this makes the watch nicer to wear. On the outside the band looks as if it is fully steel-on-steel linked. But when you look to the mechanical construction you see that the rubber band is the part that holds all the force applied to the band.On top of that there is an even weaker point in this design.
There is a posibility to enlarge the diameter of the band, at this part of the band where the links of the chain can be removed there is a steel-to-steel construction applied. Nevertheless at the point where the rubber band meets the steel-to-steel construction there is a very weak piece of rubber that has to hold the whole band together. The watch works very well but when the small rubber piece breaks, it's worthless. To replace the entire band (because the rubber part can't be supplied anymore) will cost you €260,-.
Too bad for such a nice watch. |
