Citrus Mill

Twoddler
Kids never play kids, instead they play adults, or at least how they see adults. Adults make toys for kids. Or, it seems they want kids to play their toys? This is a device which allows toddlers to communicate non-verbally with their caretakers, based on a standard Fisher Price Toy. The device captures data from the toddler's interactions within the activity center and translates them to tweets that can be followed by the toddler’s parents; the toddler mashing the image of his mother for a predetermined amount of time might be translated to a tweet like ‘I’d like to see my mommy now.”
A keyboard should be personal, just like the tooth-brush...
Paper Radio Flexio
Light and flexible radio flakes, each one for only one radio station. They have one side for a sun powered loading system and one side for speakers. It is a sort of combination of print and sound. Interesting idea.
Customized Band Aid
Exactly the case when many of us would say: "I could have had this idea as well!" So convenient, just cut the right size and use it!
Mr. B.
Mr. B is the newest way for doing the dishes. It uses supersonic technology, helps conserve water and eliminates contamination of water via detergents. Its design has been inspired by a prehistoric creature and has a nanotechnology coating for self-cleaning and keeping bacteria at bay. The soft rubber brush is safe on all surfaces and the ergonomically shape gives a good grip. It comes with a wireless charging cradle, and the LED “eyes” reflect the battery life and status.
Toaster
Stack your bread in the feed tray and make your eggs and coffee while each slice is printed onto the plate below.
The Copenhagen Wheel
SENSEable City researchers from MIT unveiled the Copenhagen Wheel last week, a high-tech hybrid bicycle that is far different from anything you rode as a kid. The bike's large, red hub is laced with sensors that speak to your smart phone through a Bluetooth connection. The simple device lets you know where you are, how far you have traveled, which direction your facing, facts about air pollution and personal fitness information. The bike also stores energy when you brake and lets you release it when you need it. The Copenhagen Wheel incentivizes your bike riding by counting your "Green Miles," which the researchers liken to frequent flyer miles.

In case of more complex products, where also electronics and software are involved, it is mostly very sensable to get more insight in the costs and revenues of the product and the technical risks before starting a product design and development project.
A short pre-design research project is then advicable. Before starting design we investigate which components could build the product and depending on the case we might do some technical testing to get insight in the risk of the development projects. We come with some directions for solutions, so that we can make an educated guess about the number of parts and production technologies. That, in combination with the components, give a first realistic indication of the cost price of the product, and we can also give a good estimate of the design and development costs. For you this results in an overview of the costs and revenues involved in the project and the product, so that you can make a well funded decision about going ahead with the project.

Designer: “on designing a window-display of Maison Hermès, I intended to express people’s daily 'movements' with a suspicion of humor. There are moments when I perceive a hidden presence of a person in the movements born naturally in daily life. I created a design where one can perceive someone behind the scarves as if life were being breathed into them”. And it is one of our wishes for the coming year: shop window displays should change. A lot of them simply do not work anymore. Lets add some aesthetics and play with human perception. And it will work.
