A warm embrace that saves lives
In the developing world, access to incubators is limited by cost and distance, and millions of premature babies die each year. Jane Chen shows an invention that could keep millions of these infants warm - a design that's safe, portable, low-cost and life-saving. It is a new, low cost solution to help keep low birth weight babies' body temperature warm so they can survive. It requires no electricity, has no moving parts, portable, safe and intuitive to use and easy to sterilize.

Skoota
Skoota from Stuart Emmerson is a compact urban electric scooter. It uses the latest Super Charging Lithium Ion technologies and an in-wheel brush less hub motor to add efficiency. It has a simple two button interface, five minute super charging lithium batteries and front caliper / rotor braking system.

Plug on is a collection of lamps that bring the act of turning a light on back to its basics thus giving a little magic to that moment and making us more aware of its relevance.
Cargo shell
If a container crosses the Pacific loaded with goods and goes back empty, that's a huge waste of fuel. But despite all best efforts, it happens all the time. That will change if Dutch entrepreneur Rene Giesbers' Cargo shell folding shipping container concept makes it into production. When empty, the Cargo shell can be folded flat, taking up only 25% of its original volume. Ships can carry four times as many empty containers as full. And the Cargo shell is made from composites rather than steel, which give off far less CO2 during the production process.

    Unlike the commonly known Black Charcoal, White Charcoal leaves no residue and dust-free once it has been washed. This unique natural material is known in Japan and Korea for centuries for its toxin-absorbing qualities, cleansing the air of odors, pollution and unwanted moisture without attacking the senses or polluting the environment. Once it no longer functions as a purifier, it can be broken into small pieces and recycled into soil where it acts as plant nourishment. Charcoal kilns are formed from clay and built by hand. Depending on the season and weather conditions, it takes approximately seven days to transform wood into white charcoal. White Charcoal has higher percentage of carbon (over 90 %) and a harder glass-like structure. Charcoal producers primarily come from a long legacy in production, where knowledge and expertise are passed on from generation to generation.
